A fine male clone of bayberry shared with us by friend Margie Mott. Plants have been standouts in the collection with attractive foliage during the growing season that takes on a burgundy hue in cold weather. In the garden we've seen strong vigor from these plants and are excited to have a quality male form to help pollinate the growing list of female cultivars that are making their way to the market. As a bonus, we've been able to successfully root this plant from cuttings, an attribute that is inconsistent at best with most forms of the species.
